Annamika was an interactive app that transformed images into real-time, kaleidoscopic visuals. With touch controls, customizable effects, and projector support, it became a go-to tool for VJs, artists, and anyone seeking immersive, meditative digital experiences.
Before Annamika became an app, I created kaleidoscopic art in Flash, which gained viral traction after being featured on the Smashing Ideas blog. When the iPad marked the decline of Flash, I saw an opportunity to reimagine my work. Inspired by The Tao of Physics, which explores parallels between quantum mechanics and Eastern mysticism, I sought to capture the ineffable—the fluid, ever-changing nature of reality. Partnering with a developer, I built Annamika in 30 days, integrating gesture-based controls, zoom, speed, pan, facets, and projector syncing. Annamika spread organically through online communities and creative networks, becoming a favorite among artists and live performers.
